Donut Stop
There's a donut shop in my area that I've been to, as far as I can recall, twice. Once was several years ago, and again today. It's one of those places that I'm aware of, but it's just far enough outside my usual routine that I don't get there very much. Sometimes there is not all that much difference between being very distant or merely on the periphery.
[...]
However. There is a phenomenon that my family and I have noticed, where we will go years without going to some area or part of town, and then suddenly find ourselves going there multiple times in the space of a few weeks for totally unrelated reasons. Have you noticed something similar? So it is possible I'll end up back there sooner than I think.

Re: No amount of organizing will make me want to do something
I have the same problem, and I’ve been struggling lately. I made strides against online addiction only to get addicted to books instead. I don’t wanna work on the record (I’m making music) because it’s embarrassing and scary. It’s daunting to do a multi-day project. It’s not tedious exactly; at first I thought that was the problem but the tasks are varied enough or could be made varied enough. It’s just daunting, and looking at the long long road ahead is somehow exhausting.
I procrastinated seven weeks before getting started for real (I had some misguided idea about what the first steps were gonna be) and even now when the ball is rolling I sometimes go over a week before touching this project. I’m trying different things to get unstuck but then life keeps happening, too. Other appointments, other commitments, and just hangups and mental blocks. There’s always new struggles in the war of art.

I mentioned Raidillon in the rain... 🏎️💥
I said Verstappen and Hamilton went flat out that day, but that was a little bit of poetic licence. I bet they were actually being pretty cautious. But maybe Lance Stroll was reading my reminiscences? Today he took the same corner too fast in practice in the rain.

Scary thoughts on the future of the open source desktop
In their blog [1], Chris outlines some future paths for the open source desktop.
It paints a future where the open source desktop environments like KDE and Gnome opt for a Wayland-only path. It also states that Wayland is Linux-specific, leaving other open source operating systems in the cold.
I don't know much about Wayland, but I can understand the way of thinking of the blog post.
Of course, we have been using X for decades, first with XFree86, and later with Xorg, and that worked perfectly fine. The non-Linux operating systems could continue to use X.

Amazing bash grace
This morning I learned of bash's "command not found" handler.
It's implemented by defining a bash function called 'command_not_found_handle' (that's not a typo... for whatever reason it's honestly 'handle' instead of 'handler').
