    Before I talk about the politics in the USA, I just want to make clear that this entry does not constitute a return to writing. I'm still taking a step back¹ from writing. I'm only writing this entry now because this message is important and it won't be of any use if I wait too long.

    This is hardly a unique thought—heck, the human-computer interaction course I've TAed for years includes Norman and Nielsen's "Gestural Interfaces: A Step Backward in Usability" as a required text—but with how ordinary smartphones and tablets are, the terrible usability of touchscreen interfaces often fades into the background.

      Yesterday I have joined a Mastodon instance. All this social media stuff never really bothered me, and I don't know how much I'll be using that account, but it might help me wasting some time on the weekends. At times it is really hard for me to focus and concentrate on the things that I like do do, as I am cycling through depressive episodes and usually am just plainly exhausted all day long.
