Recent Improvements in Techrights
Considering Dr. Richard Stallman's political interventions and Stallman's talk tomorrow (Italy), it certainly looks like the Cancel Team has failed. For the first time since the MIT scandals he is picking up honorary doctorates and the people who led a mob to cancel him are in very big trouble.
This past week this site saw an increase of about 50% in traffic (some days over 60%) and we attribute that to the Cancel Team. It's generally a bad idea when you go after reporters. It helps illuminate what they reported in the first place.
Yesterday we received constructive suggestions for accessibility improvements in the Web site (HTTP/HTTPS; we support both and never impose the latter). Those got implemented last night, tentatively at least, so if you notice changes in the appearance of the site (CSS cache needs to be overridden for that), that's not a mistake. We're trying to improve use of screen space or to generally reduce blank regions; people with weaker eyesight or people who zoom a lot have reported that the site can look like "doomscrolling" when indentation levels are high. An example is shown at the top.
Techrights will never be full of widgets or ads or all sorts of unnecessary bloat; minimalism works fine when the main goal is to relay information, irrespective of the medium (device, protocol and so on). We still have the latest headlines in Morse. Many people use that every day. █
