In Iran, GNU/Linux Reaches New Highs, According to statCounter
According to statCounter, a company which assesses traffic from millions of sites that spy on visitors (or relay or 'spill' their data to statCounter), there's a growing proportion of GNU/Linux users coming from Iran.
Does that make sense? In light of geopolitics? Probably.
Adoption of GNU/Linux in Iran was never high. But that can change. It's higher than what we saw in January and Windows became synonymous with back doors (for those knowing how to access those bug/back doors).
Speaking of Iran, the following message was sent a month ago to libreplanet-discuss

Dear LibrePlanet Community,
I’m working on creating a LibrePlanet wiki page for Iran and the upcoming FOSS event we’re organizing. I’d love to collaborate with others to make this page informative and useful.
If you have experience with the LibrePlanet wiki or would like to contribute, please reach out! Any help—whether structuring the page, adding relevant content, or sharing guidance—would be greatly appreciated.
Let’s work together to build a space for Free Software advocacy in Iran!
Looking forward to your support.
With freedom and solidarity, Delta

Also a month earlier:
Dear LibrePlanet Community,
I hope this email finds you well. My name is Delta, and I’m reaching out on behalf of a team planning to host a national-scale LibrePlanet event in Shiraz, Iran, this May. The main goal of this event is to advocate for software freedom, introduce free software and the Fediverse to both technical and non-technical audiences, and explain why using free software matters.
We believe this is an important opportunity to grow the free software movement in Iran and inspire more people to join us in defending technology freedom. To make this event a success, we need help from passionate volunteers who share our vision.
We’re looking for individuals who can:
Speak about free software and its importance.
Share technical knowledge about free software and the Fediverse.
Help organize workshops or activities.
Assist with event planning, promotion, or logistics.
If you’re interested in volunteering or have any ideas to share, please reply to this email or contact me directly at delta.shahinpoor@iau.ir . We’d love to hear from you and work together to make this event impactful.
Thank you for your time and support. Let’s spread the message of software freedom far and wide!
Best regards, Delta

This can attract the wrath of the Kremlin branch in Washington DC. Hopefully the FSF won't face trouble for this. █
