Microsoft Has Become Almost Extinct in Web Servers, Netcraft Now Ranks It in Only One Category (Microsoft Down Sharply), Deranked/Outranked in All the Rest
Microsoft has become such a "niche" or increasingly marginal player [1, 2] in Web servers (IIS and the rest are for dyed-in-the-wool stubborn Microsofters*) that, as of this latest report dated yesterday, Microsoft is shown only once and it's down sharply.
Just to describe in this simple text (for those who read it over Gemini Protocol) what people should be looking for in the graphs above, it basically shows that Microsoft is nowhere to be seen in the "leaders' tables". Microsoft cannot even pass the threshold for inclusion there (anymore) and this month it's down from 2 inclusions to only 1. Not too long ago it was 3.
Microsoft used to be in all categories, now it's in just one, and moreover ranked last with a decrease from 1,166,997 to 1,153,038 computers in just one month. That's a huge drop. It's also widely known that to perform some particular task Microsoft requires more computers than UNIX/GNU/Linux equivalents/counterparts.
The company is in trouble and its CEO now tries to change the subject by making misleading claims about slop, which he calls "hey hi" and associates with "the cloud" (giving a false impression of some growing potential and demand). We will cover this separately in another article. █

* An associate opines without hesitation that there are very few dyed-in-the-wool Microsofters who are self-harming enough to use Microsoft for Web servers.
