Microsoft Scanning Faces in Photos People Upload to Microsoft (Even Unconsciously), Slashdot Turns Report About It Into "Microsoft Sez" (Says)
Or "let's repeat the lies from a PR person/Microsoft's publicist"
There are so many issues with the above Slashdot page. Set aside the fact that a lot of stuff ends up on OneDrive without the users realising it (new defaults).
It also overlooks the simple point that opt-in/out isn't the key thing; no such thing should be done at all (ever); many people shown in photos never consent to that. The "EFF security/privacy activist Thorin Klosowski" misses the point as well, but follow the money...
What happened to good media/press? Face-saving lies from Microsoft oughtn't be passed on without rigorous fact-checking. █
