Do-No-Evil Saturday - Part I: Novell People Come and Go

Being summer, now is a convenient time for people to move between jobs. Here are some former Novell employees who are playing musical chairs.

This new appointment sees a former Noveller becoming a CEO of SiCortex.

Previously Stone served as president and CEO of StreamServe Inc., a Burlington-based software company. Stone also worked at Novell Inc. in a number of executive positions. In 1999, he founded the software company, Tilion Inc.

Another former senior from Novell joins the board of Iovation.

iovation, the Device Reputation Authority(TM) for the Internet, today announced former executive vice president and vice chairman of Novell, Chris Stone, has joined the company's board of directors.

Stone brings 28 years of software technology business and management experience to iovation's board. Currently the CEO of SiCortex, a provider of high performance computer systems for scientific and engineering applications, Stone spent six years at Novell, where he held several senior executive positions.

[...]

Prior to SiCortex, Stone was president and CEO for all global operations for StreamServe, a European document management company.

This important appointment was also followed by a couple of short articles. From Biz Journal:

Iovation announced Wednesday the addition of Chris Stone, former executive vice president and vice chairman of Novell, to its board of directors.

There was also this short one.

Iovation, a publisher of online fraud and abuse prevention software, reported Wednesday that it has appointed former Novell executive Chris Stone to its board of directors.

Iovation should take a look at Novell's accounting practices.

Rob Wellman used to work at Novell and he too has just become a CEO.

Rob Wellman joins Printelligent as CEO with over 20 years of experience in growth strategy implementation for IT companies. Wellman brings strength to the executive management team at Printelligent with previous experience at Novell, Legato (EMC) and Altiris (Symantec).

Edward McGarr, who used to work at Novell, becomes a Vice President at UCN, a software-as-a-service company.

At Novell, McGarr served as VP of product marketing and VP of business development for the services organization.

Here is an article about it

Mr McGarr also held key executive positions in sales, marketing, and business development for StarBridge Systems, Sorenson Media, and Novell. At Novell, he worked as vice president of product marketing and vice president of business development for the services organization

Patrick Harr, the CEO of Nirvanix, will be a speaker at this cloud computing expo. He used to be at Novell.

Harr ran worldwide marketing at CacheFlow and was the GM of Novell's Internet and Security Services Group.

One of the directors of Novell comments on this $11 million investment in SkyGrid. That's quite a lot of Novell involvement in clouds ("real-time search, filtering, and personalization platform" in this case), even if these are just ex-Novellers who are mentioned.

Mr. Robinson, who is a director of the Coca-Cola Company and Novell, Inc., commented: "I'm delighted to be joining SkyGrid's board because SkyGrid is a truly disruptive innovation. It's an important step forward for Wall Street professionals. It is exactly what investment professionals need to consume and act on information."

Matt Asay, who used to work at Novell, tells why it was fun working there.

One of the things that I loved about working at Novell was how family friendly it is. The company takes "Daughter/Son to Work" days seriously, which is probably the reason for this card that all visitors are required to fill out.

Interesting comment there, too.
