THE EPO's regime of Benoît Battistelli isn't gone. António Campinos still employs many of the same controversial people whom Battistelli 'imported' and some of them continue to meddle in the affairs of the Office, even if they're retired. They see nothing wrong with the lawlessness they ushered in, they don't value patent quality (or even legal certainly, which is why they support European software patents), and they made millions of euros from their contribution to the current mess. In the case of Michel [1, 2, 3], who co-authored this submission with Minnoye, he even built a private firm using his EPO connections. Who's going to hold him accountable or uphold the law? Nobody...
If his private firm abuses privacy of EPO workers, given that the EU refuses to enforce privacy rules against the EPO, he has an interest in the current status quo. Lawlessness has served him well. In the case of Willy Minnoye, he openly boasted that he would disregard any legal ruling unfavourable to him, even if it came from the highest Dutch court. And yet, here they are talking about a 'New Normal' like a pair of despots...
