Summer's Update on Gemini's Growth and Our Presence in Geminispace

Summary: Gemini Protocol is becoming very important to us; as it turns out, the same is true for the broader Gemini community, which continues to grow this year (the founder of Gemini is also active again and publishes updates regularly)

THE video above explains that we've not made many articles about Gemini this year. That's because Gemini is doing fine and barely needs advocacy (or awareness campaigns) anymore. It just keeps growing.

Our Gemini capsule has grown to the point where it has nearly 50,000 pages and in the past week it served about 200,000 pages (in Tux Machines that's another ~50,000 this past week). Even if we ever gave up on the Web or the Web went down in some fiery glory (it seems like SEO/SPAM "geniuses" do a fine job ruining it already!) we'd still have incentive to produce a lot of stories. The next video (after this) will give an ourline on how we've leveraged several other protocols on the Net.

"Gemini is vastly easier than today's "modern" Web, it's just more scarcely known or recognised."Gopher is still going and some examples are shown in the video above. Some of our readers are ardent Gemini users and only follow Techrights over gemini:// (self-hosted from my office), which is great news. We do everything we can to ensure privacy and uptime (there has been no downtime for several months already).

We invite more people to join Gemini, either as users or authors. Gemini is vastly easier than today's "modern" Web, it's just more scarcely known or recognised.
