Gemini version available ♊︎Full Site Conversion to Gemini Nearly Done
Techrights is fast becoming a ‘moving target’ with IPFS and Gemini, among other things
Summary: Access points to our stories (and means of bypassing censorship) are increasing and mirrors are expanding; it makes us more censorship-resistant and improves availability
OVER the past week or so we’ve spent a lot of time converting the Web (as in World Wide Web) site to Gemini (gemini://gemini.techrights.org/
), which is different but a lot simpler (also a lot lighter). At the moment our Gemini capsule contains about 55,000 objects (files and directories) and nearly 700MB. There’s more on the way, as we’re only about 80% through the migration.
“At the moment our Gemini capsule contains about 55,000 objects (files and directories) and nearly 700MB.”This Web site will of course continue to exist, but it’ll be nice to have something available alongside it. That’s why we create a Gemini capsule and we’re exploring what features to add to it. A proper announcement of completion is due some time next week.
IPFS is actually more technologically advanced and interesting; it’s also a much more effective means of bypassing Chinese-style censorship (like the Techrights ban imposed by EPO autocrats like António Campinos). █
