They Say Cash is King
Our King (Charles) has cancer, but his face is now on a lot of banknotes that enter circulation, spreading at the expense of his mother's face. This article, however, isn't some insensitive rant about monarchy or admiration of people based on the vagina they came from. It's about cash versus digital payments.
The benefits of cash payments were covered here in the past, both in lengthy articles/poems and detailed videos. I personally pay with cash for almost everything. Sure, exceptions exist, but those typically require presenting an ID anyway (e.g. flight tickets or particular services).
To avoid needless repetition I'd refrain from giving a long list of arguments in favour of cash. According to a recent survey, the number of Brits who use cash went up, not down. Some ATMs are reportedly running low on (or out of) cash. This was reported last week in the national broadcaster. I noticed it here last year, which means more money needs to be minted/printed.
A free society would have more people paying with cash (physical barter). An oppressive society would fully embrace "digital" payments in their various forms/types. That's just it in a nutshell. People who value their freedom will pay with cash any time they can. █
