[Meme] A Cup of Apple
They kept telling us - insisting based on mere belief - that "GNU" and "Linux" would be impacted (based on no known information*). Turns out it's some Apple thing.
So just as we predicted right from the start and all along since then, it's another one of those (hype around an unknown hole that, when finally disclosed, turns out to be a bit of a dud or widely/wildly mischaracterised).
Social control media is among the culprits, as before. Leaping past sanity checks, deranking voices of reason/caution. Sensationalism wins.
By the way, none of my machines uses CUPS. Thus, claiming every distro or GNU/Linux machine would be impacted was a deliberate lie.
"There's some big FUD storm on the way with Apple's CUPS aiming at FOSS and Linux," an associate nevertheless told us. Remember that social engineering in Microsoft GitHub (Xz), which is proprietary, was spun by Microsofters as a weakness in Linux and "Open Source"? That was almost exactly 6 months ago. █
