Three Months
EXACTLY 3 months ago we filed two lawsuits [1, 2]. We've since then seen more evidence that the abuse was coming from and indirectly funded by Microsoft ('former' Microsoft staff; it was current Microsoft staff when we wrote the articles). We don't know if Miguel de Icaza and/or Nat Friedman (former CEO of GitHub) fund this abuse, but it's certainly possible because the threats come from Friedman's "best friend". The lawyer who sends the threats is using Microsoft money. He cannot even write names correctly (probably by intention).
Either way, we'll be fine, but it's important to remind people of efforts to silence us. We need to be proactive about those sorts of things. SLAPP is always foolish because it is, at best, temporarily effective (merely a nuisance).
Today we'll be out for coffee for half the day, so don't expect many articles. Throughout the weekend we have plenty of material we wish to publish. Next week on Tuesday our sister site turns 20.5, so we'll be out partying again.
A friend recently told us that the trouble which the Microsofters try to make tends to be in proportion to the effectiveness of Tux Machines and Techrights, so one can take that as a sign of both sites being both relevant and beneficial. █
