FSF Amicus Brief: Aspose.PDF for .NET 24.2.0, OOXML (.docx), and Microsoft Word (Proprietary)
Having just mentioned this amicus twice [1, 2], consider where the FSF sent probably tens of thousands of dollars to prepare the document:
Could the FSF not find any law firm that, in addition to talking about or for Free software, does not use .NET, OOXML, and almost everything Microsoft? Even in 2025?
It's a bit disappointing, "but is is clear who's fault that is?" an associate asked. "It gets complicated" and ".docx == proprietary" (.docx represents crimes at Microsoft; Microsoft committed many crimes* to force many people to use .docx or OOXML).
The FSF should lead by example and reward law firms that use Free software, not just conveniently speak for it when paid a lot of money. █

* These crimes "paid off" because at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), for instance, one gets penalised for not using OOMXL now.
