The Silent Power of Coercion Over Speech

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Dec 26, 2025

The following article was published by a convicted rapist of children, who spent many years shadowing for Microsoft and promoting UEFI 'secure boot' (he also trolled us in IRC):

Linus Torvalds apologizes for years of being a jerk, takes time off to learn empathy

In 2018 Linus Torvalds, the creator or Linux and Git, was compelled to write words he didn't mean to write (or didn't really mean). Something called "Linux Foundation" compelled him to say certain things. Remember that the Foundation is a front not for Linux but for Linux-hostile oligarchs (including Microsoft and Bill Epsteingate) and shameless scammers.

When you see apologies online (especially in Orwellian times, Orwellian places, or in Orwellian institutions) be very sceptical.

This site grew and became a lot more active because in Datamation I came to recognise that the editor, who ran ads with Microsoft, exercised unjust control over my own articles. He could basically censor me while trying to twist that as "suggestion" or "improvement" or "fact-checking". Datamation has since then become a slopfarm, so forget about fact-checking or facts or anything even remotely connected to truth. The purpose of slopfarm is to fool search engines and maybe fool some human readers, too.

In 2025 many statements were made by Free software projects. The reality, however, turned out to be more complex. Many statements are meant to serve some business/commercial interests, even if they're false. Many statements are just PR or press releases. Many aren't labeled as such.

The important thing is optics; the key is to gain the skills or the ability to discern compelled speech from genuine, legitimate speech. There are many fakes out there.

The reason I write this is because my wife saw two "Linux people" at The Register MS writing Linux-hostile pieces. I then reminded her that their boss is a Microsofter; he has considerable veto power over what they publish and he can "assign" things to them.
