Microsoft Declares Vista 7 Ultimate Extras Dead
Summary: Another feature of Vista 7 goes up in flames
The reality behind Vista 7 becomes less blurry because the release is only 2 months away. The closer it gets, the more wrinkles one sees. Here is the latest.
Microsoft quietly removes Ultimate Extras from Windows 7
One selling point of Windows Vista Ultimate Edition was its inclusion of Ultimate Extras, a special “members only” club of downloads incorporated into Windows Update. As of Windows 7 it’s no more – and the club wants its goodies back.
This is the product Microsoft relies on for a comeback. The Vista 7 campaign will be launched shortly in Massachusetts. █
“I’d put the Linux phenomenon really as threat No. 1.”

The “Ultimate Extras” program has been troubled for a long time. No one ever thought it was a good deal to begin with and the last toy was uploaded about a year ago. “Ultimate Extras has been dead since September of 2008. I’m surprised that anyone used it as an upsell mechanism for Vista 7, but lies and M$ go hand in hand.

“Ultimate” and “Extras” sound very good, though. It’s like “Professional” and “People-ready”.
