Android is Peaking in the Republic Of South Korea (Windows Down Sharply in East Asia)
Guess who's "stealing" the share...
UP until a year ago Windows was the dominant platform in South Korea, which has an internationally-known (notorious) dependence on Microsoft nonsense like ActiveX. Maybe not anymore...
According to this survey, Android overtook Windows around one year ago and has since then surged to about 46% of "the market" (of Web-connected clients). In 2010 Windows was measured there at nearly 100% and now it's down to 33% (not as extreme as in Nigeria, where Windows fell from 100% to just 6%).
South Korea's plan to abandon Windows was a federal decision some years ago. The people there have advanced tech skills because of the nature of the primary industry. The same is true for Japan and for Taiwan, where Windows fell below 75% of desktops and laptops while GNU/Linux climbed to 4%. In Japan Windows fell to about 70% of desktops and laptops.
Microsoft cannot charge much money for Windows licences anymore. Now it's trying to add "hidden fees" like charging for security patches. What next? Ads all over one's desktop? Seriously??? Move to GNU/Linux. █
