MakeUseOf Never Responded to Our Query About Why It Shut Down Linux Coverage About a Month Ago
THE sad realisation is here to be accepted. Inevitably? Despite the growth of GNU/Linux worldwide?
MakeUseOf (MUO) has abandoned GNU/Linux coverage and it is promoting a lot of Microsoft right now.
Judging by our traffic, it seems many other people are concerned about this. To shed some light on it, we served about 1.35 million requests yesterday, with most requested pages in the past 2 weeks being articles about MakeUseOf (over 7,000 views of 1, 2).
The site used to cover Linux every day, on average, and now it looks like this:
Nothing in almost a month!
After waiting patiently for about a fortnight, hoping for at least some sincere explanation (like, "we're low on budget at the moment"), we got basically nothing... so we're probably safe to assume this is the end.
The front page shows they covered other topics 4 times yesterday and 6 times the day before yesterday. Microsoft, Apple, Google... nothing Linux. Since almost a month ago. They used to cover "Linux" every day (on average), so this was likely a deliberate decision.
Look how Microsoft-centric their top menu is right now:
Did Microsoft sign some deal with them or something? Even coverage of "Gemini" is actually about Microsoft (blame Google for the googlebombing).
Remember that Microsoft loooooves GNU/Linux... according to Microsoft and Microsoft-sponsored sites. █
