Vintage Library Books

WITH THE week nearly over (ending Sunday, 2 hours after the Euros end) we expect we will have published about 180 articles/pages, but a "shadow" activity is work on PDFs in collaboration with others. As explained here before, I don't typically publish long texts (a book's length) and I turned down offers to that effect even ~20 years ago. However, seeing commonality and shared interests, some material ought to be meticulously covered and explained. It'll serve a good purpose.

There's a reason why GNOME Foundation is rapidly collapsing and going broke. It has nothing to do with Holly seeking to get or pursue a degree, it's about scandals if not internal fights (that they don't want the public to see). It's imploding like GitHub under Friedman (around the time his best friend Balabhadra Alex Graveley was arrested for assaulting women and their shared friend de Icaza suddenly left Microsoft). After he left there were several waves of layoffs over there and even entire offices got shut down, permanently. It's not a pretty picture. Friedman was allegedly fired and he seems to be hiring PR firms to lie about what happened. They're so worried about their image - to the point of seeking to lie about what they did (many untold stories remain to be published; we have thousands of lines of notes still waiting as drafts).

Daniel Pocock and other insiders (or former insiders) knew it had been warming up before it boiled over. As Pocock put it yesterday: "Holly Million, as a newcomer to open source, could have taken the moral high ground and offered to try and fix this. Maybe she didn't feel the GNOME Foundation board would support her. Maybe the board and her colleagues have been hiding details from her. Even if she did know everything about the history, maybe she just didn't feel this cleanup job would be worth the effort."

This wiki and the general story won't be "complete" without some "side stories" thrown in. Desperate efforts to suppress the truth resulted in even worse chaos and some people are going to pay for it.
