Even Microsoft Does Not Want systemd In Its 'Distro'; Azure Itself Means Routine Downtimes and Full System Breaches, Why Use It?

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Aug 03, 2024

Intel is collapsing, but that's hardly newsworthy in Phoronix. You see, to Microbell it is totally huge news when AMD (his sponsor) has one single job opening. When Intel has 15,000 or 18,000 layoffs? Meh, not even a mention!

Microbell is once again promoting the E.E.E. by Microsoft:

Microsoft Promotes Azure Linux 3.0 To General Availability

There are some comments that are less promotional than Microbell's piece, e.g.

NEW! Azure 3.0 - Now without CrowdStrike!

Microsoft boosters elsewhere also give free press to the imitation:

Azure Linux 3 hits general availability – but don't expect any frills

Someone points out that systemd is considered too messy, even by Microsoft's low standards:

We are still in the middle of the systemd wars. systemd is normal now, seems to be used in most distributions, but Docker and WSL are still holding out: 'yes you /can/ use systemd, but no, we aren't going to make it /easy/'.

These moves do not show Microsoft changing its mind or its attitude; they show Microsoft altering the attack tactics. Assimilation tactics are connected to infiltrations. Once inside, Microsoft can cause chaos, with CoC as a shield from critics and sceptics.
