Calling Out Windows (TCO) is Apparently Impermissible in Some News Sites
The online news sites are failing us (and corporate sponsors play a role)
OUR efforts to get news sites to "Call Out Windows" are about 1.5 decades old. Now that many sites are corrupted by Microsoft money (e.g. for "ads") we can expect Windows issues to be described as merely "IT" problems. It's a big problem that verges on malpractice (blame-shifting) and it means solutions elude us. A President Biden said a week ago that he was passing laws or directives to improve "cybersecurity", so why was Windows not banned? Or as we put it in the sister site: "But he did not cancel all the Microsoft contracts, so it's more like lip service". Why? An article "by Renee Dudley, with research by Doris Burke" covered the reasons back in November.
"Nicely done," one reader told us about recent work of ours. He said about The Register that "my account is barred. Presumably because I called-out their other BS on Chinese/Russian/North Korean hackers, hacking US government computers. No mention that the root cause of the current hacking infestation is Microsoft Windows. Also, I criticised their promotion of the Russian/Ukraine war."
Microsoft is a huge component of that, yet the media helps Microsoft deflect and distract by naming nations that exploit Microsoft holes (or which nations are targeted).
The reader added: "The Register logo: “Biting the hand that feeds IT”. Not for a long time. I figure that like most other publications, they've been compromised through advertising. Can't criticise someone else they risk losing the advertising money." █
