Rumour About Red Hat Layoffs Yesterday

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Mar 05, 2025

From IBM Red Hat forums (thelayoff.com):

Apparently there were layoffs yesterday. A popular Red Hatter per his podcasts and youtube streams said on linkedin that he was laid off. Does anyone know if this was widespread?

Thread regarding Red Hat layoffs

Hours ago someone also spoke about IBM layoffs in Brazil:

IBM Executive dumps shares

Not major news but we hear about this as the market dumps.

Sold at $253 and change

When Alvind and his DipMunks got their awarded shares in January they were in the $254 range

They need to hold for a minimum amount of time and they can’t dump them all at once

All while the axe swings. More cuts in Brazil this week

Can somebody from Red Hat or someone who knows someone there (impacted or not) confirm that there are layoffs this week at Red Hat? Those would typically be classified as "IBM layoffs" (of which there are plenty this year; almost 2,000 just days ago).
