GNU OS, Powered by Hurd
Days ago Debian 13 was released [1, 2]. Not many people/sites paid attention to the fact it also had an Hurd-based release ("Release of Debian GNU/Hurd 2025"), except perhaps LWN and Phoronix.

If Linux's monopoly keeps you up at night, give the GNU Project's Hurd microkernel a try. In 1983, Richard Stallman founded the GNU Project with the goal of creating a free operating system, GNU. Stallman kicked off the GNU operating system by building its technological foundation—development tools like a code editor, compiler, and debugger. Once those were in place, the project finally turned to the most fundamental piece: the operating system kernel, Hurd. But progress on that front slowed to a crawl.When it became clear that a stable version of the Hurd kernel wouldn't appear before the end of the 20th century, Stallman decided to collaborate with the Linux community. This led him to reach out to Ian Murdock, the creator of Debian, offering both moral and financial support.
