The Management Advisory Committee (MAC) allegedly covers up EPO Cocainegate because of its own involvement.
For about 5 years now we've repeatedly heard about cocaine use at the EPO. That came to us from several sources after Benoît Battistelli had left. The issue seems to have exacerbated with the Alicante exodus. This is no laughing matter because people saw things and told us things. But up until the actual cocaine bust (by German police) we could not write about it. European media still refuses to write about it, despite admitting to me that it is aware of the problem, plus (as made explicit over the telephone) it is not disputing it.
So what the heck is going on? To what length/s will German authorities and media (not just in Germany) go to protect the EPO's "precious image"?
Can we still pretend that Europe is guarded by the press, which properly informs the population? All I ever got from the EPO is SLAPPs, and after I got a lawyer - a very well known lawyer I might add - the EPO escaped the scene of the SLAPP. It's not like I reported something that was false. I just reported something which was damaging to the EPO's management, eventually resulting in dismissals.
"It is an open secret that several people in the top-level Management Advisory Committee (aka MAC) much like Berenguer are corrupt and have their own history of alcohol and substance abuse," an EPO insider has told us. "It is in their utmost interest to have the "Cocainegate" issue sorted with as little disruption as possible. The whole organisation paints itself as progressive while literally being represented by cokeheads, a matter that could easily destabilise the whole system."
Well, at the top of it all we have António Campinos, who according to many insiders (independently telling us that) habitually shows signs of cocaine use - a subject we'll be covering next year. █
