WE were not able to cope with the load yesterday and the server/account needed to be downed for several hours. We did use distributed cache, but this was not enough. The server received more requests than it could cope with.
This is worth pointing out because poisonous characters spread false rumours and accusations w.r.t. reasons of downtime.

But Microsoft does go after hosts who give room to Microsoft-critical content. This is well documented.
I also had Microsoft shills harassing my ISPs several times (even weeks ago). They try to take me offline.

Sooner or later the grey MS gargoyles (lawyers, I mean :-), remember the Simpsons sequel where Burns shows up with 6 lawyers at Homers house? :-) ) might try to harrass you, so it makes sense to have a strategy for that case, IMHO.
Maybe daily WP-Backups that are uploaded to a public place or mailing list so everybody with a WP installation can quickly mirror you if necessary?
I am using WP Database Backup, a nice plugin that does automatic backups and could do exactly this.
Keep up the good work - your site is a very useful ressource.

I already have this mechanism in place.
