Summary: The clown computing bubble is going to burst sooner or later, just like social control media; we need to prepare for the implosion and keep information circulating

TONS of stuff has happened over the past 24 hours (political issues aside; we try to abstain from touching 'pure' politics or purely political issues in order to stay focused).

We've added IRC functionality (through PHP-based bots; 5 of them in total), everything was then added to Git (locally-hosted), we've added a way to distinguish gemini:// links (as shown in the video above), and we've added all site-specific PHP files to Git (WordPress and CSS files for the most part). Sooner or later we will start adding Gemini links to Daily Links, with the specified protocol shown to avoid confusion (we'll also try not to link to social control media, as noted in a separate video today).

"Some time soon we might do video tutorials on how to set up one's Gemini capsule from scratch on one's own computer."The direction we're taking may seem outlandish to some, but old hype is dying in a dumpster fire (like Facebook's stock) and new things are emerging with a lot of promise, especially when it comes to emancipating so-called 'netizens'. As an associate put it this evening, "self-hosting ought to be encouraged whenever possible for as long as it remains legal. Perhaps it can be kept legal if enough people (re-)gain awareness of how useful and easy it is."

Some time soon we might do video tutorials on how to set up one's Gemini capsule from scratch on one's own computer. To use/access Gemini be sure to get one of the many clients available for almost every platform.

Don't be alarmed if there's a complete avoidance of all social control media; we'll still do Daily Links and all things as usual. I will be able to devote more time to Daily Links, I'm just not sure if Twitter and 'chums' will be part of the circulation (those are waning rapidly; some sites go offline completely). Dropping all social control media would certainly mean less traffic, but it would also means less time spent on social control media and potentially more time spent creating things in the site (videos and stuff). In the short term we plan to add more news picks, some of them from gemini://, and we'll link a lot less to sites which became spammy (a growing proportion of today's Web).
