Gemini Links 20/07/2023: Cuttlefish and Antenna

    • Personal/Opinions

      • Playing catch up text ball

Several nights ago while laying on my back in bed en route to falling asleep, meditation upon a bit of "spiritualish" verbiage preceded (word chosen over "caused" because I don't know how/why what follows happened) several seconds of the absence of conceptuality, an am-ness sans any representational aspect, e.g. words, description.

      • Have you seen something you can't explain?

I've been interested in the paranormal, cryptids, and unexplained phenomena all my life.

Some of my favorite shows growing up were the crappy melodramatic paranormal hunting shows like Ghost Adventures and Finding Bigfoot. I still will watch an episode here or there, more so Finding Bigfoot than anything else just as a little comfort show. I would rent out any books I could find about sasquatch at my local library growing up, though it was quite a small selection. For a number of years, after fifth grade, my interest subsided and I didn't give hairy hominids or bumps in the night much thought. Then I stumbled upon the podcast Jim Harold's Campfire, where people call in about mysterious events that had happened to them. I loved the show and would listen to peoples' stories for hours on end. Now this interest has maintained into adulthood and if anything seems to be growing as I get older, though I always thought it would go away someday.

      • cuttlefish

last month i spotted a cuttlefish (30 cm) in about 2 m of water; visibility only about 3 m that day.

this week i was fortunate to observe another cuttlefish in about 1.5 m of water; visibility about 5 m. the cuttlefish was hanging around a clump of seaweed, and after a minute or so moved off. i started to follow but because it was speeding up i stopped following because i didn't want to chase it. live and let live. a few small fish then came out from the seaweed; safer now that the cuttlefish had moved on.

    • Politics and World Events

      • Oxymoronistic tinylog

"...even highly educated persons ... continue to put their trust in media outlets that do not deserve our trust. ... Indeed, it takes temerity to realize that our own politicians and media lie to us, that they are purveyors of dis-information and practitioners of Orwellian doublethink."

    • Technology and Free Software

      • Internet/Gemini

        • Antenna Instance

So I recently got an antenna instance up and running, and I'm primarily writing this entry to ensure it works, and then I'll add more to it.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
