Gemini version available ♊︎Did Novell Quietly Sack Over 100 People?
Novell is shrinking
NOVELL, Inc. (Nasdaq:NOVL), a worldwide leader in selfishness, backstabbing and hypocrisy. closed some offices across Europe recently and the last question in a new interview with Volker Smid goes like this:
Like many IT suppliers, you recently cut a number of jobs. Are any further redundancies likely?
There will be no more redundancies. We are running a workforce of 4,000 down from 4,100 despite making two acquisitions in the meantime. We have looked at the economy and have done what we needed to do.
We mentioned Volker Smid before, especially because he calls Microsoft “a partner” [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]. He was appointed President of Novell EMEA [1, 2] almost exactly 2 years ago. █
Novell had an axe to grind

Pure unproven speculation: you don’t have to layoff people to reduce head count. And certainly for such magnitude it’s for usual fluctuation sufficient to simply not replace everyone leaving.

OK, so let’s say that because the economy is so bad and it’s hard to make ends meet, many Novell employees simply resigned.
Let’s say…
And Novell didn’t bother filling the vacancies.
Do you see a gap in this bit of logic?

Yeah, it’s in the place where your brain should be. Oh, and your dignity.

“NOVELL, Inc. (Nasdaq:NOVL), a worldwide leader in selfishness, backstabbing and hypocrisy”
Yes, their #1 product is “protection” from mythical Microsoft patents, not Linux.

Don’t use the “P” word like that ([P]atent or [P]rotection). Novell calls this product “[P]eace of Mind”.
