YouTube Has Just Become Even More Sinister
RYAN has just informed us of the above-noted observation regarding YouTube's sinister all-seeing URLs (derived from the "Share" button, for now). This past summer we did a series cautioning people not to become hostages of YouTube, either as viewers or creators. YouTube is under pressure to "monetise" and in the process it does all sorts of obnoxious and malicious things, not limited to the censorship we alluded to yesterday.
The way Google has been treating the Web (and Web browsers) sheds a clue about future plans and prospects. AMP, WEI, EME... you name it. With WASM and JS, Google envisions HTTP becoming more SPDY and serving "webapps". This is the antithesis of the Open Web. █
