Not Only Windows, Surface, and "Hey Hi" PCs; Microsoft's Hardware Ventures Are a Dumpster Fire; HoloLens Mixed Reality Hardware Now Axed Altogether and Staff is Miserable

Even a Microsoft brainwash site admits it - that's the "End of HoloLens Mixed Reality Hardware":

Microsoft Confirms End of HoloLens Mixed Reality Hardware

Microsoft is in a terrible state and that's why it's disposing people like they're garbage. It's fighting to keep expenses under control. In the case of HoloLens, Microsoft is offloading what's left of it to a third party, a Windows shop. This whole endeavour is going nowhere. When Microsoft bought HoloLens it fired all the staff and then it did it again. There's no hope there. HoloLens as a vector for bailouts from the "defence" budget didn't work either.

Remember when "metaverse" units were shut down altogether at Microsoft? No? Well, the media barely reported on it. Will "clown computing" be next? The media now admits that it's not growing. We guess "hey hi" will be next, as it's mostly just "clown" in new clothing (and clown is servers with extra hype because the so-called 'clown' boils down to outsourcing).

Microsoft's sales of "Hey Hi" PCs (Windows basically) were appalling, as covered here weeks ago. There's no target market. So what's left for Microsoft to sell? Goodwill?

Recall this article: Microsoft Claims "Goodwill" Is an Asset Valued at $119,163,000,000, Cash Decreased From $34,704,000,000 to $19,634,000,000 and Total Liabilities Grew to $231,123,000,000

Things appear to be so bad at Microsoft that the troubles are offloaded to staff.

This Microsoft-related USCIS thread (entitled "Wife Cried Today") says: "We filed end of November 2023--married Sep 2023. I'm USC and wife is Pakistani. We talk almost daily via video call and I'm barely handling it. It's easier for me since I work a very demanding job that takes a lot of my focus but my wife is taking online classes and has more time to reflect. Today she just broke down suddenly and it frigging killed me. I feel so helpless. I want to visit her but taking time off right now would be career suicide especially when so many tech companies are doing layoffs--for context I'm a senior sde at Microsoft and our product is really struggling. I feel so helpless in this situation. Why the hell are spousal applications multi year long when it directly impacts Americans from literally starting their lives. Please help me understand why we aren't protesting these absurd times for SPOUSES for God's sake! Can we petition Trump to look into this considering his wife also went through a similar process?"

The relevant part (to us) is that he's at Microsoft, as a "Microsoft SDE...product really struggling...would be "career suicide" to take time off to go see his wife." (Quoting Ryan)

"Work-life balance and other fictions," Ryan said. "That pretty much confirms that it's well known inside Microsoft that they'll throw you out like garbage if they think you're not devoting every waking minute to them, and they still might even if you are."

"I've seen the term "work/meeting/daydreaming about work balance"," MinceR responded.

"I wonder what product he's talking about that's on the verge of failure," Ryan said.

MinceR responded, "i don't know, all the products "developed" at MICROS~1 that i had the misfortune of using were failures in the engineering sense..."

"They don't care about that," Ryan said. "They care about people paying to use them or being threatened with lawyers for using something else, so they don't."

"Microsoft guy said his division/product is basically failing," Ryan reiterated later. "And it would be "career suicide" to step away from work to go see his wife. They demand total loyalty, and guarantee you nothing except that you'll be disposed of like trash whenever it becomes convenient."

"Terrified of layoffs. Failing product/division at Microsoft. Senior role, worried they'll zap him if he goes and sees his wife using paid vacation time or something. Thinks you can "petition Trump", and that Trump cares. (apparently). Says this....basically.... "Vicious company, low morale."

"That really bites, you know. He's miserable. His wife is miserable. And he's a professional working at a huge software company."

Time will tell how much Nadella will suck up to Trump to bail out the company with government contracts or just handouts (Trump gave Microsoft billions in handouts after COVID-19 had spread; he was bailing out the rich).
