Microsoft Hijacks Maharashtra’s Education, to Teach Many Children How to Smoke Windows

Posted in Asia, Deals, GNU/Linux, Microsoft at 7:02 pm by Dr. Roy Schestowitz

“They’ll get sort of addicted, and then we’ll somehow figure out how to collect sometime in the next decade.”

Summary: Digital colonialism to be pervasive in some more Indian schools

EVERY ONCE in a while, especially when GNU/Linux gains traction in India, Bill Gates makes a special visit and Microsoft resorts to EDGI. Up to 72,000 schools are targeted by this brutal programme which subjugates not just adults but also children all across the world. EDGI enables more and more educational programmes to turn into training and schools to recruitment camps. To use an analogy, it’s the equivalent of taking over an engineering school and then teaching students there how to push buttons at a factory. It may be good for factory owners, but it prohibits or at least inhibits the creation of new factories. It’s deprivation, it’s abominable.

Bill Gates visited India about a month ago and the latest victim of Microsoft’s merciless tactics is Maharashtra, India. According to The Times of India:

The government of Maharashtra has signed an MoU with Microsoft India, which will provide training in information technology to school teachers. Microsoft will also help build “employability-readiness skills” in junior college students.

We have internal documents from Microsoft to show what MoUs are all about. The move is also reminiscent of DreamSpark, which we wrote about earlier this year (many links to previous commentary). The MoU seems like a case of renewal, but it seems to affect the children more negatively than ever before, under the guise of “employability”. Teachers are also victims and for those who cannot get their heads around the size of the population, here are some sobering numbers:

Microsoft India has graph out three state-of-the-art IT academies in different places starting from Pune, Nagpur and then to Aurangabad and would trained about 92,000 teachers.

The number of teachers affected is roughly equal to the number of people employed by Microsoft. These teachers shall become a sort of ‘extended family’ to Microsoft, but Microsoft will not need to pay them a penny; who will? The government, i.e. the taxpayers. It’s the same old scam. The person from India who alerted us about it could not link to one specific article because there are so many. It’s big news in India, but very sad news to the population, which will probably be misled by the positive spin the in the mainstream press.

Look at this. They will receive a Microsoft certificate in their state schools. This is not a joke! You can’t make this stuff up.

Under the agreement, Microsoft will help deploy the Microsoft Digital Literacy Curriculum (DLC), a self learning multimedia based module which introduces the fundamentals of computing to a first-time user. The students will be assessed once the modules are completed, and awarded a Microsoft certificate, if successful.

Another big scam which is known as Live@Edu will be part of this atrocious agreement.

Rajan Anandan, managing director, Microsoft India Pvt Ltd, said that the MoU includes expanding capacity of educators at school cluster level, training of 6,000 educators who would train others in their respective cluster, building and connecting communities through Live@Edu initiative and building IT readiness among the youth.

How much worse could it get?

“To them, it’s just a negligible market in which to make a buck but also a market to suppress and punish if it happens to elevate Microsoft’s competition.”This headline says it all: “Students to be trained by Microsoft.” Yes, because the young generation needs to be educated by a company that was found guilty of crimes in several continents — a company whose felonies continue to this date. What sort of message will that get across to the children? They are trained rather than educated by a company that proudly shows that — as the old saying goes — “crime pays”. Under this programme, they will be exploited (from Microsoft’s selfish point of view) and also be treated like slaves even before they get a chance to gain independence and become innovators for their own neighbours in India.

The following set of E-mails comes from Comes vs Microsoft. It is an essential reading for those who do not understand how managers at Microsoft view the developing world. To them, it’s just a negligible market in which to make a buck but also a market to suppress and punish if it happens to elevate Microsoft’s competition. Sadly enough, Nick Negroponte has known Bill Gates for many years and he too seems to have become an assistant in such an agenda. DRM-laden textbooks are not a distant vision, especially in any school where Microsoft software spreads and prevails.

“To illustrate how someone could react to this mudslinging by Microsoft, I have written a hypothetical complaint titled ‘Microsoft is looting the nation in alliance with Indian IT giants’. While constructing this hypothetical complaint, I have used what I call the ‘Microsoft patented mud-slinging algorithm’. I have included it as a stand alone appendix (Annexure A) to this letter. The purpose is to demonstrate that such complaints and counter complaints would lead all of us to disaster. This hypothetical counter complaint shows Microsoft as working at national and International forums to maintain and enhance its monopoly in global markets, and as attempting to ensure its monopoly strangle-hold on Indian desktop Market. It also paints INFOSYS, TCS, WIPRO and NASSCOM as willfully helping Microsoft in this evil design, and thus acting grossly against Indian National interests.”

What Else is New

  1. Canonical Continues to Help Promote Windows Instead of GNU/Linux or Ubuntu

Thrice in the past week alone Canonical used the official “Ubuntu Blog” to help Microsoft instead of GNU/Linux and it is part of a disturbing trend which lends credibility to jokes or rumours about a Microsoft takeover; it's not like many people use this thing, either (Canonical helps Microsoft shore up a dying/languishing EEE attempt)

  4. GNEW Seedlings vs. Free Software Deforestation

“The idea of the GNEW Project really is about keeping the goals of the GNU Project alive — hopefully, they won’t destroy or co-opt too much of the GNU Project, that people like the Hyperbola devs can’t fix it with BSD.”

  5. Joi Ito Already Admitted on the Record That Bill Gates Had Paid MIT Through Jeffrey Epstein

An important exhibit for the accurate historical record (because MIT has been trying to deny truth itself)

  6. It's Convenient to Call All Your Critics Nuts and/or Jealous

Bill Gates antagonists are not motivated by hatred or jealousy but a sense of injustice; spoiled brats who break the law aren’t a source of envy any more than mass murderers are subject of admiration

  7. Real History of Microsoft and How It Became 'Successful'

New video that contains a portion about the history of Microsoft -- the part paid-for 'journalists' (paid by Microsoft and Bill Gates) rarely or never speak about

  8. Hostility and Aggression Towards Staff That Does Not Use Windows After Windows Takes Entire Hospital Down

Microsoft Windows, with NSA back doors, continues to take hospitals offline (with records copied by criminals if not stolen by effectively locking the originals out of reach for ransom money); but guess who’s being punished for it…

  9. They Came, They Saw, We Died...

It cannot be overstated that we're under attack (or a "Jihad" against Linux as Bill Gates himself put it) and failing to act upon it will be costly as time may be running out and our groups are being 'bought off' by Microsoft in rapid succession, as per the plan/strategy

  10. The GitHub Takeover Was an Extension of Microsoft's War on GPL/Copyleft (Because Sharing Code to Anyone But Microsoft is 'Piracy')

Licences that make it easier for Microsoft to 'steal' (or a lot harder for Free software to compete against proprietary software) are still being promoted by Microsoft; its GitHub tentacles (see GitHub's logo) further contribute to this agenda

  11. ZDNet is Totally a Microsoft Propaganda Machine

The site ZDNet has become worse than useless; it lies, defames and launders the reputation of famous criminals (that's the business model these days)

  12. When Microsoft's Mask Falls (or When Times Are Rough)

Microsoft loves Linux in the same sense that cats love mice (they might play with them until they get hungry)

  13. Careers in Free Software Aren't Careers in the Traditional Sense

With historic unemployment rates and people 'stranded' inside their homes there's still demand and need for technology; these times of adaptation present an opportunity for Software Freedom

  14. Embrace, Extend, Extinguish 2020 Edition

Embrace, Extend, Extinguish (E.E.E.) is alive and well, but the corrupt (paid by Microsoft) media isn't talking about it anymore; in fact, it actively cheers and encourages people/companies to enter the trap

  17. Breton (EU) 'Joins' Team UPC to Help His Buddy Battistelli... Again

As expected, Breton acts as little but an EPO tool, looking to prop up supremacy of patent litigation over science and innovation

  18. Removing Free/Libre Software as an Inadequate Response to Microsoft Windows (With Back Doors) Getting Compromised, Killing People

GNU/Linux takes the blame (in a sense) for incidents that are purely the fault of Microsoft and its deficient software with deliberate back doors; it's believed that this boils down to opportunistic retaliation against those looking for a solution to the problem (or merely speaking about the problem)

  21. The Art of Giving: Why Free Software Will Inevitably Survive Attacks Against It

Societies that share and look after their peers/neighbours will always be better off than predatory societies, which breed exploitation, distrust, discord and eventually systemic collapse

  22. 'Journalism' in 2020: Far More Articles About What Computer Linus Torvalds Bought Than About Linux Releases

Yesterday's (or late Sunday's) Linux announcement (RC7) is symptomatic of a broader issue we've long spoken about; it restricts people's ability to express an opinion, which can cloud any meritorious and substantial debate about technical matters journalists cannot grasp or comment on (it takes more effort and research)

  24. Media Covers WSL Like People Actually Use This Trash (a Failed Distro Which Only Works With Windows)

Lots of abundantly redundant puff pieces have appeared in paid-for (by Microsoft) media this past week covering WSL/2, but that's grossly disproportional to the people who care and actually use those types of things (because money talks, not technical substance)

  25. Working From Home on Patent Monopolies Would Lower Their Quality and Perceived Legitimacy

The patent system wherein people grant monopolies from their sofas and bedrooms isn't helping the already-eroded perception/image of patent offices that mostly grant patents to massive multinationals (and far too many patents overall)

  26. The Attitude of António Campinos Toward Courts and Toward Justice Same as Benoît Battistelli's

6 years down the road we're still dealing with unaccountable tyrants who laugh at the law, laugh at lawmakers and disregard law enforcers (like the Trump regime across the Atlantic)

  27. IRC Proceedings: Sunday, May 24, 2020

IRC logs for Sunday, May 24, 2020

  28. Asking Microsoft If It Loves Linux is Like Asking Google If It's Evil

The media keeps bombarding us with lousy, weakly-sourced messages about Microsoft regretting its stance on “Open Source” and loving “Linux” (both are lies that are very easily debunked), so journalism has an existential problem and maybe too much dependence on ad money (a form of bribery) from “Big Tech” that does “clown computing” and “apps”

  29. Features Considered Harmful

"But the benefits of Free software, free candy and new features are all meaningless, if the user isn't in control."

  30. Free, as in “App”

"As everyday users, we need to be able to configure our applications, and this process must/needs to be made as easy and understandable as possible."
