THE old modus operandi wherein Microsoft pays competitors to stop competing (see Novell and similar attempts against Netscape) is very much visible in today's Canonical and to a lesser degree Red Hat (IBM). People are hired not to promote GNU/Linux but to help Microsoft, instead. The above screenshots are from the past week alone (roughly) and we're hoping to just show what Canonical has become. Hardly a GNU/Linux champion; Microsoft is paying Canonical. Once upon a time antitrust and regulators were still a 'thing'; but in these awkward times Microsoft is permitted to infiltrate just about anything, using money alone, even the Linux Foundation (where Microsoft employees now boss Linus Torvalds, making it more risky for him to lash out). ⬆
