Security Webspam and FUD

THE video above is part of the adaptation to new software as we're in transition between machines. I was attempting to cover some of the latest FUD, which will soon be listed in Daily Links. And the short story is, "Linux" tends to be mentioned in dark, negative contexts; it's not because of journalism but due to FUD campaigns from hostile firms. We gave examples earlier this year, e.g. VMware's campaign of "Linux" FUD, looking to distract from VMware's proprietary software as the true culprit.
"When searching for news about Linux this is the sort of junk one gets; we're doing our best to encourage the adoption of alternatives such as Gemini."Basically, the press uses terms like "Linux-based Gafgyt source code" while trying to associate "source code" with security issues. To quote: "A prolific threat group known for deploying distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) and cryptomining attacks is running a new botnet that is built using the Linux-based Gafgyt source code along with some code from the Mirai botnet malware."
Sadly, a lot of the World Wide Web is full of shoddy 'journalism', FUD, press releases, and Webspam. It's a growing proportion of today's Web and it's not going to improve for the foreseeable future. When searching for news about Linux this is the sort of junk one gets; we're doing our best to encourage the adoption of alternatives such as Gemini. ⬆
