Tribute to PCLinuxOS (and a Note on Health Battles)
Security is the "Key To Everything"; PCLinuxOS Magazine recovered from a ransomware attack and now there are health issues
OUR friends over at PCLinuxOS have just offered a birthday tribute to Texstar, whose community distro - a real community distro - is still kicking. It recently turned 20, as will the site he helped birth (with his partner at the time, Susan), Tux Machines.
In more recent years Texstar had a war to fight and it wasn't about Microsoft or GNU/Linux. It was about cancer.
PCLinuxOS Magazine is going through changes and hours ago the project sent me a message with links. They included the following part: "Even after stepping away from his oversight of the HTML edition of The PCLinuxOS Magazine, YouCanToo still plans to continue his monthly recipes, as well as the occasional article for the magazine. [...] YouCanToo … we appreciate your hard work and dedication to The PCLinuxOS Magazine, and PCLinuxOS overall, over these years. We hope the extra time you have, freed from your monthly responsibilities of managing the magazine's HTML edition, provides you the opportunity you need to get your health concerns under control. We want you to be with us for many more years to come."
Health has become harder to attain in recent years (we'll spare readers an explanation for it; we're a tech site, not a medical site).
As always, look after health first. Remember that without health there is no life and even all the money in the world cannot restore a lost life. Take "computer breaks", focus on a balanced diet, do a bit of exercise (even just moving around a little bit definitely counts), and stay positive because this helps the immune system, cardiac health etc.
We hope that the PCLinuxOS project will stay healthy for another decade to come. We're pretty certain we will and we nowadays receive more support from readers than ever before. █
