[Meme] ILOAT Already Admitted in Public It is Unable to Fulfil Its Mission for EPO Staff
The International Labour Organization (ILO) has a tribunal (ILOAT), but don't let that deceive you
After yesterday's article one person not associated with the EPO asked me: "What is ILO?"
Not literally what the acronym stands for. The suggested topic is a sensitive one because EPO insiders have long reminded me that ILOAT (the tribunal at ILO) is the sole recourse/fallback that exists. But what if it does not function properly? The problem then is, ILO and ILOAT can give a false impression of accountability or of access to justice for staff (from the outside, independent).
In practice we've repeatedly seen very belated "justice" or ILOAT "laziness", where they just send cases back to the EPO's kangaroo court.
ILO itself might be OK. It issues publications about labour issues; its court, however, isn't functioning as advertised. In the EPO's case, ILOAT openly admitted this problem. At one point it wanted to kick out the EPO, which had become a reputation issue for ILO.
Today we commence a new series about ILOAT. █
