Jim Whitehurst (Former Red Hat CEO) Now Works for Two, Not Just One, Microsoft Boosters
All the companies that he still works for are Microsoft boosters. Oh, wow!
From his Microsoft LinkedIn page:
We wrote a lot about Silver Lake over a decade ago, e.g. [1, 2] and Whitehurst's current role is Microsoft Mono "pusher" [1, 2]. His successor Paul left Red Hat less than a week ago and online gossip is indicative of impending mass layoffs.
There was no financial reason to sell Red Hat. There ought to be an implicit demand that CEOs actually use and like the stuff the company is selling. Otherwise they kill off their [sic] company/ies...
And no, Whitehurst does not use and does not care for GNU/Linux. He only "used" GNU/Linux in the sense he used volunteers to make profits. Same as Mark Shuttleworth, who has also been busy as a Microsoft salesperson.
Whitehurst worked for The Boston Consulting Group for 12 years (same as Red Hat), i.e. the same sector as McKinsey. He has a Harvard MBA, so he knows the 'secret handshakes' and all. But he doesn't write code, even if he studied CS in the mid 80s.
The current Red Hat CEO (Matt) is technical. But 6 days ago Matt's predecessor left Red Hat, according to a face-saving message sent by Matt himself. Matt's role is just lying to the staff while handing out pink ribbons... sorry, slips. █
