D&D upgrademania
And you can mix-and-match the first three of those options at the same table. Old subclass support is a good thing for fans of third-party stuff since that often had custom subclasses.
You can use āadventuresā from 5.1 but the rulebook itself with conditions, combat system etc is supposed to be 5.2 (D&D "2024", since referring to this new edition as a new edition is taboo) if you want to to support 5.2 characters.

a window into the apartment
Ah, the window unit. a 5000 BTU (British Thermal Units, "as it were") of potential air-cooling power. This covers 150 sq ft, or, my kitchen and dining area, though not *as* much as the living room. A 30 inch floor fan assists with that endevour, and ALL of it will be a significant degree (and mood!) change for me when I power it up. It arrived around 4PM, 8:30 now, it says settle for 24 hrs, as the coolant needs to chill (though not literally in this respect) after the transport. I figure 6-7 hours will suffice, and I hope it does the trick. I have it running on low fan right now, working good, nice "wind" velocity to the output.

Some people just needs to shut u
Some people just needs to shut up. During the sport's festival at school today, I was interacting with my ex (We're on good terms, nothing bad really). I made an offhand comment about her losing the mechanical pencil I bought for her. It went along the lines of "Aw, heartbroken that you lost the pen I gave you?" right after she found it.
It wasn't meant to be anything serious, and I do understand that what I said can be hurtful to some people (I definitely don't think that she minds these type of jokes), but coincidentally, my classmates were there heard everything. They proceeded to scold me about how I shouldn't treat her like that and whatnot. Here's what I think about it:
I know what I'm doing, I'm not a child you guys have to look after all the damn time. I'm not as immature as you guys think, and I most certainly do not need to be lectured on how to treat people. It would honestly be great if you guys didn't lecture anything to me about how I deal with my social interaction. I may be slightly less well-versed, but I am not socially illiterate.

Behold the istists!
and soon concluded that people whose speech/writing is teeming with such necessarily see people more in terms of attributes of (too) neat categories instead of their individuality.
It kinda makes me wonder... but, oh... no no no... we can't say/write *that* kind of thing anymore... so.... I won't!
Anyway.. I've decided to call/label such people istists! :-)

Killed by inaction
I recently went to a two-days conference on ethics of war, initially thinking "war is about killing; once you've killed someone, what else is there to discuss?" I was pleasantly surprised.
Right now, my rule-of-thumb is that killing is bad. But that's only a rule of thumb. In certain scenarios, killing is permissible in order to avoid A Greater Evil. I don't personally know anyone who would object to their right of self-defense, which includes the right to kill the assailant in the process -- though not with previous intent of doing so, otherwise you (the assailed) would become the assailant instead. The assailed earns this right from the assailant's implicit forfeit of their own rights to life, at the moment they became the assailant.

A Hot, Tired Summer Evening
No major hobby gamedev updates today, so this will be another post that's more of a journaling entry. That doesn't mean I haven't made any progress on my MUD, VVO. I've been working on the event scripting system, which, like similar systems I've made for other projects, will basically be its own little Turing-complete mini-scripting language, specialized for creating interactive events for VVO, which will enable things like having extended conversations with NPCs with choices and dialogue trees, solving complex puzzles, etc.

What projects are you working on?
I'm working on a simple CMS without frameworks, and hosting that is based on this CMS.

primes and otherwise

misc VR-related notes
there's this thing called "draw calls" that it is best to minimize when making 3d shit. I haven't figured out exactly how to minimize these properly. it was annoying trying to figure out how to even see how many. I am currently checking how many by going into some world on

Day 4 of the 2024 Old Computer Challenge
Today I've so far adjusted my scripts for Fediverse access so I can show a detailed view of a status by giving it's Mastodon post ID number. This was a gap in my capabilities: I could pick a post from a timeline to view it, load its context and even retrieve an arbitrary status URL (I added that a month or so ago), but getting a specific ID number was something I had missed for some reason. All it took was tweaking a script so if it had only one argument it was the ID number while if it was two (or more) it was specifying the timeline and list ID.

Joining Gemini
Naturally, I got curious. Why wouldn't I be? I'm a sucker for these type of things. The video detailed on multiple things, that I honestly don't remember right now. I recall agreeing that the current web is really soulless. It became a platform for profit, rather than a medium for expression.
So, when I saw Yesterweb, appearing as a website that served to emulate the Old Wild Web, I hopped onto the opportunity. To my disappointment, the website was completely defunct. Nevertheless, I looked through of what remained in the website. Then, I saw a certain keyword.
