Escaping GAFAM Colonialism Requires Homegrown Free Software
GNU/Linux now measured at 3% in Zambia
Zambia - like most of Africa - is poor in money but rich in resources. This means it attracts plunder. But there are some GAFAM divestments, based on 2026 data. Notice how GNU/Linux grew in recent years. It's still below the African average.
"CCP will soon close the economic noose on the African nations," someone has told us, so "GNU / Linux will boost temporarily until it is quickly replaced by locked-down spyware that they control."
In Zambia, we saw ""Linux Surging" and "Windows Down to Only 7%" in 2024. Windows' market share is about the same now and we are guessing that "Unknown" could be some obscure mobile operating systems (not GAFAM, not Android). It's hard to tell for sure. It's the same in Zimbabwe.
Hopefully they won't be lured into low-cost or free Chinese phones that help extract money or resources (crippling debt) out of those vast lands. █
