Nobody is Safe at IBM (or Red Hat)

The above comment, posted an hour ago (unverified poster, but nothing dodgy about it), suggests that what we've long said [1-4] is not far-fetched: IBM fires people based on cost, not performance or skill/s. With 40,000 or so workers being marked for potential layoffs (or PIP, which tends to lead to resignation or firing), the already-widely-cast net is further extended.
There is no job security at IBM or any of the companies it buys to bluewash, e.g. Red Hat. The old saying was, you don't get fired (or nobody gets fired) for buying IBM.
Now the opposite is true and those fired include IBM staff. They need not do anything wrong; sometimes just being very experienced (or accordingly paid) is sinful enough in the eyes of the IBM kitchen. █
