Web3, Blockchain, Metaverse, 'Hey Hi' (AI), and Vision Pro... What Ever Happened to the Vision Pro Hype?
LONG live the memories and the momentary, impulsive hype (helped by sponsored "media partners").
Remember Vision Pro? No?
Oh, let's check Apple's fan sites. From "Apple more than halves Vision Pro orders" (past July):
Yes, as Apple proponents put it: "It's claimed that Apple has now dropped its orders to around 400,000 Vision Pro units in 2024."
Compare to iPhone: 223 million "orders" this year, or about 500 times more than the above.
So we have a bunch of yuppies yapping about some vapourware with shrewd marketing razzle-dazzle. Call it VR or AR or "metaverse" or whatever... it's still a dud.
Remember the original Microsoft "Surface" (the "big-ass table")? This is what we have here, but another company's logo on an overpriced train wreck.
With interest rates at about 5%, Apple may need to pay over 5 billion dollars per year just to cover the interest on the debt (not even paying it back yet). Microsoft has the same problem and all this 'Hey Hi' (AI) nonsense it goes on and on about has only deepened Microsoft's losses. █
