[Meme] Microsofters at the End of David's Leash

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Dec 21, 2024

Hand holding the leash. Whose?

WordPress vs WP Engine: Poor little me, they're bullying me!! Keep attacking Matt and WordPress; Silver Lake Technology Management, L.L.C. 'investing' $250 million in vexatious litigant and parasite (worse than Wix)

Context: Deciphering Matt's Take on WordPress, Which is Under Attack From Microsofters-Funded Aggravator

As WSJ put it: "The connection between Silver Lake and Microsoft goes back to at least May 2011..."

Silver Lake and Microsoft: Best of Buyout Buds Groklaw wrote a lot about it and so did us, noting that a lot of Microsofters had entered or generally controlled Silver Lake.

Later came this, to name one example:

Dell sold to Microsoft, Silver Lake for $24 billion: What it means for the PC

Remember that WP Engine is controlled by Microsofters through Silver Lake Technology Management, L.L.C.

And as CNBC said two months ago: "Silicon Valley private equity firm Silver Lake bought a majority stake in WP Engine in 2018, investing $250 million..."

Think of it not as "WP Engine v WordPress" but as "Microsoft/Silver Lake vs Matt and Automattic".
