Ditching the States
I've seen numerous posts in the gopher-verse concerned about or moving away from US-based hosting and computing services [0][1][2][3], well founded in my opinion given the current instability in that country. As a Canadian I also share Visiblink's concerns around the US government's and Amazon's actions and rhetoric against Canada, and have been severing connections to our southern neighbour, not just computing but travel and general purchases.
I'm ditching the US-based hosting provider I've been using for years and moving to OVH (even though my VPS is not hosted in the States, I can no longer justify supporting a US company). I may also transfer my domains to OVH, but am still looking for a decent registrar with associated free DNS hosting. Please send suggestions if you know of any!

Toby's tinylog
Episode 39 of the #postmarketOS #podcast is one of the best podcasts I have listened to in a long time! It's an interview with magdesign, a geek who sold all his projects and tools and belongings to cycle the world with his wife, and uses a #linux #mobile #phone as his main computing device. Funny, inspiring and full of amazing stories from the trip.

Meet gwit: Human-scale, Distributed Sites over Git
Hi everyone! I'm Degauss, pleased to meet you! This is my first log entry in The Oldest gwit Site, where I'll write about gwit to document it, spur conversations on its evolution, and help others adopt it.
But what's gwit? In summary, gwit is an effort to create a distributed and future-proof digital publishing system as simple, lightweight and human-friendly as possible. It can host your current static Gemini or Web site, too. And it needs your help.

A new zine
I finally added a new zine on here (I'm trying to successfully compress the remaining Lindwyrm zines) -- this one is Castles In The Sky, and it's about how it's /okie/, actually, to just enjoy the things you like and /also/ okie to not be constantly Producing in your hobbies, either.

Restart
Geez, I didn't realize it had been three months since my last post. Time really flies. I know my server was down for part of that time. A power fluctuation caused it to reboot and I was (paradoxically) a combination of too busy and too lazy to restart it for quite a while. Well, we're back online now.
Random musing: Since last time, I've been using markdown a lot and have developed a real appreciation for it. It kind of makes me wish the Gemini protocol supported markdown. It's extremely minimal compared to full HTML, yet much more expressive than basic gemtext. Well, probably a pipe dream. We have what we have, and I doubt markdown will ever be supported for Gemini.

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
