Strong Momentum for the Free Software Foundation (FSF) as Winter Approaches Its End in Boston or in the Northern Hemisphere
Published on November 7th (last year), this article by Miriam Bastian still keeps track of money raised by the FSF in the winter period. Dr. Bastian said that "Free software is an important building block to a free society". She was right and she probably didn't imagine the campaign would be this successful. In just over 3 months they've raised nearly half a million dollars. That's nearly half the amount raised in 12 months in 2023.
Hours ago we updated and uploaded a WebM version of some of the talk by the FSF's founder, Richard Stallman. It's his latest talk, the one he gave in Italy 3 days ago.
His personal site does not mention this, but apparently he gives another talk in Italy in 9 days from now, i.e. on Monday. There's a Registration Form, Programme (reproduced below), and promotional flyer. The talk covers "massive surveillance, and censorship", so it would be a low blow if a bunch of lunatics decided to spy on the organisers and then extort them into censoring/canceling the talk. If Dr. Stallman is so scary to these people, then we'd argue it speaks volumes about the power of his words, or the message that he has spread and progressively refined since the 1980s. █
