Two Months After Merging to Hide GitHub Losses Microsoft is Doing It Again (This Time Windows)
Older:
- Before CoreAI There Was Builder.ai
- Microsoft said “GitHub and its leadership team will continue its mission as part of Microsoft’s CoreAI organisation.” But it's just an empty shell created earlier this year.
This week, from sites of Microsoft boosters:
Microsoft is shrinking. It already had at least two waves of mass layoffs earlier this month.
Now the memos inside the company reveal more "consolidation". Quoting Windows and Surface (commercial disaster) boss Pavan Davuluri: "This change unifies Windows engineering work under a single organization ... Moving the teams working on Windows client and server together into one organization brings focus to delivering against our priorities."
Merging those two together is not a sign of strength but a tightening of budget. We've seen lots of that in Microsoft lately. █
