Qualcomm and Manchester United Appear to Have Dumped Microsoft (Qualcomm Now Invests More in Linux, Apparently)

Third

A couple of days ago (this past Thursday) we went to Sports Direct inside Arndale Centre, Manchester. It's 4-stories high now, it's just so vast! And at the top floor they have the football specialists' items for "real fans".

I paid close attention to the Manchester United uniform/s ("gear" they were selling; it is the very latest) because one side - and the front - still says it's sponsored by Qualcomm, the official "brand" on all the jerseys. I previously wrote at least 4 articles [1, 2, 3, 4] about how they used to have Microsoft's "copilot+" or whatever at the back, below the number (and maybe more than the back of other garments, at least on some of the gear sets, there are usually 3: home, away, and another "Third Kit" that avoids colour collisions).

In some tournaments, like Cup matches last year, one could still see Microsoft's "copilot+" or whatever (especially early in the season). But that stuff flopped and now they are all gone; I saw no traces of "copilot" anything. Not on any of the shirts, jumpers, etc.

So to me it seems like Qualcomm, which recently bought Arduino [1, 2, 3], threw in the towel Because Windows did not sell, does not sell, and will not sell.

It's a relief to no longer see Microsoft logos and brands on a local football club's gear (I'm not a Manchester United fan, but not a foe either).

All this "Hey Hi PCs" hype was pure BS. And it is fast becoming even worse.

Even Microsoft Lunduke, who had come from Microsoft, jokes about the direction Windows is taking with a twist on Durov's cautionary message:

Our generation is running out of time to save Word Documents to a local drive.

What was once the promise of a .DOC file conveniently located on our hard drive is being turned into the ultimate tool of control.

Once-free countries are introducing dystopian measures such as “Save to OneDrive”.

Germany is persecuting anyone who dares to save Word Documents to offline storage. The UK is imprisoning thousands for backing up to USB sticks. France is criminally investigating developers of LibreOffice.

A dark, dystopian world is approaching fast — while we’re asleep. Our generation risks going down in history as the last one that had local storage — and allowed it to be taken away.

We’ve been fed a lie.

By betraying the legacy of our ancestors, we’ve set ourselves on a path toward self-destruction — a total loss of Word Docs on our local drives.

To be clear, he's not against Microsoft; it's just the old antics.
