Linux Foundation is Rebuilding the Berlin Wall (to Keep Russians Out of Linux)
James (Jim) Zemlin is erecting a divisive wall again.
"The Berlin wall was taken down (or started to be taken down) 35 years ago today," an associate notes, linking to some news from earlier today:
- "Thirty-five years since the wall fell, Berlin is divided over what to do with crumbling communist buildings"
- "A special historical analysis: Europe's 35-year journey since the fall of the Berlin Wall"
- "35 years later: How fall of the Berlin Wall shaped, divided, and united a generation"
"It's related to freedom," the associate says (rightly so), "I suppose."
As a reminder, the Linux Foundation basically barred Russians from directly contributing to Linux (a slippery slope, who's next?). That was very recent. People who spoke out against this were also punished, even if they were not Russians! So the Linux Foundation is basically acting a bit like oppressive Soviets. Who next to be deemed "undesirable" (based on nationality)?
Can we trust people like Zemlin (check the surname's origin*!) to run Linux? Since the Donald Trump days (first term) they've lied about it being "inclusive". █
