Microsoft Money Being Spent to Bully Techrights Only Legitimises Techrights
ONE week ago I said "The Streisand Effect is Real" because when covering a scandal - with SLAPP attempting to hide this scandal (after repeated begging) - interest will only grow. "So don't be evil. Also, don't strangle women," said the concluding sentence. (Yes, a high-level Microsofter did that! Then his close friends Miguel de Icaza and Nat Friedman - GitHub's CEO at the time - dropped like flies)
We started writing about this every day nearly 2 weeks ago and we still see a lot of interest in the topic. Yesterday we had 136,192 Gemini requests (and about 3 times as much on the Web). Improvements to the sites are partly motivated by this growing exposure. Even in IRC we've reached new records.
As the previous article said: "Suing One's Way Out of Real Trouble Won't Work (It Merely Increases the Trouble)..."
The longer it goes on for, the greater the Streisand Effect.
It's in some way flattering that the Microsofters decided to go this far - to the point of doing illegal things in IRC (they got caught red-handed). We must be very scary to Microsoft. From convicted pedophiles being sent to troll us in IRC we've moved on to crackers and serial stranglers. Quite the accomplishment. We don't do social control media, so the trolling is focused on IRC and threats sent by E-mail. █
