Microsoft LinkedIn Layoffs "Very Likely Higher" Than 1,000 People
Yesterday: Up to 10,000 Microsoft Layoffs in a Couple of Months
When Microsoft divulges some "official" numbers - and those numbers pertain not to money but to layoffs - these "official" numbers are likely (based on historical track record) to be significantly lower than what is true.
Some people predicted, based on insiders' knowledge, the current round of Microsoft LinkedIn layoffs. Hours ago somebody wrote: "Where is LinkedIn’s RR? Three week ago, effectively immediately RR moves over to Microsoft full time and DS is promoted to CEO. And then yesterday, LinkedIn’s new CEO announces layoffs, reported at 5% but very likely higher. And not a peep from RR, at least on LinkedIn. For him, it’s business as usual. I guess that tells you all you need to know about the dying platform."
Just like in GitHub, whose chief quit Microsoft over a week ago, LinkedIn has a vacuum: "Why would RR make a comment? He's not the CEO anymore. He's fully transitioned to MSFT."
The person who openly announced or formally acknowledged the layoffs (merely confirmed the reporting based on whistleblowers that spoke to Reuters) said "profitability" was a problem.
Like GitHub, LinkedIn is losing money, but Microsoft isn't yet ready to throw those "shysters" under the bus like it did Skype last year. Utterly terrible acquisitions. Microsoft is bleeding. █
