Clocking Things
WEEKS ago we consolidated all the Web sites, putting them under the same beefy server (32 CPU cores). The sites only serve static pages now, so the load is very low and RAM is barely an issue. Yesterday techrights.org served 146714 requests, news.tuxmachines.org served 202617 requests, and the rest (mostly tuxmachines.org, the old domain/pages) was at 256168 requests, so we're looking at over 600k requests for that one day.
The consolidation generally went well and mostly smoothly. It's hosted closer to most of us who are involved in the sites. This means interaction with the server is a lot faster and it helps speed up backups, updates etc.
Next week we hope to start being a lot more productive. With many of the tasks out of the way ("TODO" list getting shorter) we can zoom back in on Microsoft layoffs, EPO scandals, and of course GNU/Linux or Software Freedom. The future is promising and there are many urgent issues to keep abreast of. █
