Mr Pocock for Midlands-North-West (Ireland)
THIS week in Ireland there's an election. "Polling day in Ireland is Friday, 7 June 2024," Daniel Pocock reminds us. Some ~2 months ago he presented his "nomination to represent the district of Midlands-North-West, Ireland in the European Parliament."
If you're a voter who lives in that area, consider the following statement from me:
I've known Mr Pocock for over half a decade. Although we never met in person Mr Pocock cared for the work we did and was not reluctant to speak truth to power, even at great personal expense (or risk). He was always polite and sensible. He was supportive of important causes, even if controversial and risky.
Ireland and the EU need more people who speak truth to power and who understand technology (firsthand experience). Ireland's population would benefit from having someone like Mr Pocock in representative capacities because certain issues never come up in Parliament. They ought to.
Mr Pocock has been vilified by those whom he exposed, or by those who are funded by companies that he condemned. The campaign of vilification isn't an indication of troublemaking, except trouble for companies that misbehave. █
